| Rugby is a form of football invented in GB. I don't know much about American Football but from what I've seen on TV it looks like rugby. Here is a link to wikipidia about rugby, but be aware that there are two main groups in the rugby family : rugby union played with 15 players and rugby league with only 13, the first one being in general much more "known" and appreciated. It is a great sport really, I just love it, I gave up on football(soccer for you)when I discovered this game, way much more intense and spectacular and like Luke said really open to any physical type. Just watch a match from the world cup to have an idea, the USA took part in the Wcup you know, there were not bad if you see the final score (well exept from the game against Australia, but this team is considered as among the best in the rugby world).
