ST Peters Primary school,Buwambo was started by a sole proprietor,Mr Yeseri Serwanga now aged 75 years in 1992 with a staff of only three teachers and 18 pupils from Nursery to Primary one.The main objective of opening up the school was to help parents whose children would walk about 7 miles to and and study in a government schools miles away from the village. The School is located in the Luwero Triangle the part of Uganda which was greatly affected by the NRM war in the mid 1980's leaving many orphans.Its in Wakiso District about 20 miles from Kampala the Capital City. The school has grown from a miserable 3 teaching staff and 18 pupils to a current population of 18 staff members having 9 females and 9 males and a current school population of 610 pupils of which 207 are in Nursery school and 403 in Primary from Primary one - Primary seven.Of the current population,we have 40 orphans that are cartered for by the school. Our Main challenges and Problems that we are facing currently are lack of classrooms and furniture for the pupils.We have an 8 acre piece of land were we are planning to construct other classroom blocks and dormitories for children who come far but we lack funds to do so.we can make our own bricks from the land we have and all we are requesting is to help us construct for us some classroom blocks to accommodate an increasing pupil enrollment in the school since it’s the only school in the community, Currently some classrooms lack furniture and pupils are forced to kneel down and write from the ground and some classrooms are not cemented which puts our children at risk. Incase of any inspection and visits to the school you are warmly welcome. Below are the challenges we are facing. 1.Water at the school.we had a bore hole near the school but got spoilt since it was also used by the people in the community. 2.Atleast one computer and a printer to help us set and print exams for the pupils.As for now we just buy exams from other schools in Kampala. 3.Furniture where students can sit. 4.Classroom blocks including boarding facilities for student from far. 5.Teachers’ Salaries is also a problem we are facing. We have enough land and we can make our own bricks but cant afford other materials and labour to do so. We shall be grateful for your assistance. God bless you. |
