Animals : "Skinky is a picky eater...HELP!"

Hi, i need some help. First of all, my blue-tonged skink, named Skinky, is not eating very well. When he does eat, he will only eat grapes cat food, bananas and eggs. I don't think that's a very good diet for him. I mean when i got him, the lady before him only fed him bananas and she NEVER trimmed his toenails or put calcium on his food. So now he is missing almost all of his toes due to her!! What should i do?

You'll have to when you're finished with your say. If it's about not being a TAG and being a really mean person, leave me alone you nasty girl. I've had enough of your chin-wagging.

Because I REALLY am only 11 and I don't want to chop my finger off. Once, I was cutting for the first time, and one chop was a millimeter away from my fingernail.

My Mama and Daddy bring put food in old ground coffee bean tins for me to bring to the rabbits. I'm 11, so I can't cut parts of food off of the part Mom/Dad will eat with a sharp knife. None of us knew cucumbers were bad for rabbits until it was too late.

Wait, so your mother gave YOU a cucumber to feed to your rabbit but you still did not see that it was a cucumber? And WHY does your mother get you food for your rabbit? Why don't you? Nobody helps me with all of my pets. I do it myself.

Have you tried mashing a food he likes with another food he doesn't like?
How about calling a reptile, um, oligist? (I have no idea what they're called.)
How about trying lots and lots of new foods?
Maybe he wants a girlfriend or something?
Honestly, I have no idea.

25804 -
modify delete 25925 - Reply from Brunnhilde , 11 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-06

Zen is the art of enlightenment. Do you know what that little chatterbox that talks in your head is? Well, its not you. Enlightenment turns off that chatterbox. It also lets you see things as they are. Let's say you see a big, white house. If you are enlightened, and you see that house, you don't add any details to it(like not saying its big, white, or even a house at all). You let it BE it.

25804 -
modify delete 25924 - Reply from Simone , 12 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-06

Um. Ok? What the heck does zen mean? You know, you don't have to pretend you like mammals more. I know that you do, it's ok.

25804 -
modify delete 25922 - Reply from Brunnhilde , 11 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-06

No, I love them the same. Here's a story:
Every Thing is Best
Once, a man was walking down the street when he saw a woman at a butcher shop say to the butcher,
"Give me the best meat you've got."
"I can't,"said the butcher."all of my meat is best. None of it is better than the other."
Then the man walking down the street was enlightened.

Do you get my story? Its pure Zen.

25804 -
modify delete 25893 - Reply from Brunnhilde , 11 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-05

OK, you're right. But I love toads, frogs and lizards, too! Sometimes they get trapped in my pool(my pool is chlorinated, and chlorine KILLS them), and I rescue them(lizards are easy to catch because they climb on the side of my pool, but it takes a long time to catch frogs or toads swim all over the place). Boy, do we argue a lot!

25804 -
modify delete 25892 - Reply from Simone , 12 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-05

Number 1: Most lizards live in temperatures suited for them it was we MAMMALS that exported them and imported species that could kill them.

Number two: We MAMMALS can survive a lot. But it was also us that polluted the earth, killing billions and plants, animals, insects etc. for OUR comfort!

Number three: Humans in this case, are short-sighted and most only put their sights on what they want.

Why i do not really like mammals all that much:
People adore them. I mean seriously! They are so popular, so NORMAL! That's why i hate it! They treat snakes so badly, along with all herps! They don't even have a REASON to dislike them! They just hate them! That's why i like herps way more then mammals! Because i am as weird as them and i am also misunderstood like them! In all my life i have NEVER EVER met another person who loves reptiles more or is on the same level as them as me.

Don't get me wrong, i love nature and animals. As i said before, i have never met anyone who loves nature and animals more then me....but sometimes....it seems like i am the only one who truly CARES!

Reptiles are lame because they can easily freeze to death because they're cold-blooded! We mammals are warm-blooded, so we can withstand the cold more easily! Tell me what's lame about being a mammal.

25804 -
modify delete 25869 - Reply from Simone , 12 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-03

No, you don't understand. This thing is "basically" its testicles, but it has no skin or anything on it. So its just the thing raw. It is SOOO hard to tell a lizard male from female because most lizards' private parts are INSIDE them.

25804 -
modify delete 25867 - Reply from Brunnhilde , 11 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-03

Oh, its his...um...BALLS?! Gross! It is like, SOOO hard to find a rabbit sperm sack, because of there LOOOOOOOOONG fur. And, when they're babies, they haven't even got a sperm sack yet(If its a male. Otherwise the female NEVER gets one.). And, male rabbits have TWO sperm sacks.

25804 -
modify delete 25866 - Reply from Simone , 12 y.o. (USA) - 2012-05-03

Okey dokey Artichokey!
It looks like you've tried everything. But, there still is hope. Maybe your lizard is trying to tell you something. Animals act strange and aggressive when bad things like earthquakes are coming. Or maybe your skink is saying he's lonely and wants another skink as a pal. What do you think?

I have tried that as well but his teeth, though they are tiny nubs, hurt when you open his mouth. He bites when you do that and when i did manage to get a hunk of lettuce down his throat without losing a finger, he would gag and spit it back up. Or choke.

25804 -
modify delete 25835 - Reply from Brunnhilde , 11 y.o. (USA) - 2012-04-30

Wow, that's one smart lizard. Let me think...hmmm...maybe you can forcefeed him the food he needs. Its like when I had a dog(before he got hit by a car and died when he was just a puppy...WAAAH!) sometimes my Daddy had to feed him something, and he didn't like it. My Daddy would shove the food down to a certain point that forces the dog to swallow it. Maybe you could do that?

25804 -

Yes, i have tried that multiple times. He has figure it out already. A skink is a type of lizard. In this case, he has a blue tongue, looks like a bit of a snake with arms, looks a bit like an alligator and slithers on his belly.

What a minute whats a SKINK??? Is that you, Simone? Well, whatever Skinky is, I think you should mix up the food he eats with food he doesn't eat. Or did you try that already?
