Philosophy : "The media's role in self-image."

Hi. I would like to know your opinion of the media's role in self-image, both male and female. Do you think that the media is creating an unobtainable image for people (especially adolescents) to strive for? Email me your opinions.

I think that advertising has a role which incites women to do homework, for the men,
it's not the same. Advertising makes the perfect slaves and the perfect machos.

Oh absolutley! Especially now with all these shows about kids having great talents and becoming famous and being able to do almost anything you want (iCarly, Victorious, BTR, Shake it Up, ANT Farm, Hannah Montana, the list goes on and on) Certainly yes these shows can be very entertaininng (well, the Nick ones at least) but they encourage us to aim for goals that are nearly impossible to reach for the average person. But that's just what it it: entertainment. Kids and teens becoming singers, dancers, fashion designers, and celebrities is very unrealistic, but it can at be times be more entertaining than a plain regular show
