: "London school for French and Spanish speaking countries"

Hello,

Our lovely secondary school in SW London (950 students aged 11-18) is looking to increase links with countries where French and Spanish are spoken. This will allow our pupils to practise their French and Spanish and develop their cultural understanding of a wide range of countries.

In particular, links with Canada / New Caledonia / the Caribbean / Guyane / French Polynesia etc. for French, and South America for Spanish, would be very welcome to add an extra dimension to our curriculum!

Please contact me if you would be interested in setting up a letter exchange programme - with perhaps an actual residential exchange one day.

Many thanks,
David

Dear colleague,

My name is Mrs. Reme Vera and I am a Deputy Headteacher and Bilingualism Coordinator at IES Ben al Jatib High School located in Málaga (Andalucía, south of Spain). Our school has got about 900 students from 12 to 17 years old. Catholic religion is among our taught subjects.

We are really interested in initiating a two way linguistic exchange with your school for next course. The idea is to visit our schools and countries, learning more about our citizenship, natural environment and background, artistic and history heritage. We can already offer nice host families for 20 students (aged 13-14), so the cost of the project would not be so expensive if we can exchange host families among students enjoying this project . In case you think about a different age profile we can discuss. We can also offer motivating and excited students, sun, lovely beaches and a great cultural city with lots of landmarks like Picasso Museum, Thyssen Museum, Arabian castle, Roman Theatre and more. October or May would be a perfect date since the weather is really nice.

Our students can improve their fluency in the second language and enjoy a great experience opening their minds to Europe. We are experienced in exchanges with England, Germany, France and Holland, as well as eTwinning and Erasmus + projects.

If you are interested in, please let me know and feel free to ask me about any details.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Reme Vera Santaella

My name is Gillian Maggs. The reason I am contacting you is that I am currently working as the mother-tongue English teacher at the local senior school, LIceo Poliziano, San Bellarmino in Montepulciano, Tuscany in Italy. It is a mixed school with students aged from 14 to 19 years. I work in the language school of Liceo Poliziano. The students study English, Spanish, French, Italian and German and every year we organise an exchange with one of the languages they study. In the first year (year 10/11 in the UK system) we organise an exchange with an English School. For many years we have had a very successful language exchange with JAGS (James Allen's Girl's School) in Dulwich. Unfortunately they are unable to continue with the exchange so we are looking to start working with a new English senior school in 2019.

I was wondering if your school may be interested in starting an exchange programme with our students. We would be interested in sending a number of our students to UK in 2019, probably ~March or April or October or November and to receiving your students in return, ideally during the same months. We are a mixed school and would like to offer the opportunity of participating in the exchange to all of the students in our first year. Not all of the students choose to participate in the programme but we would anticipate approximately 20 to 30 students annually may be interested, the numbers vary depending on the year's intake. The trip is normally for one week. At least 2 of our teachers would accompany the students to UK. Our students would stay with your students in their families and vice versa when your students come to Tuscany. We organise daily visits which are lead by our teachers, normally to visit famous landmarks or museums etc. The students return home every day to their English host families. On Sunday we usually leave our students with their host families for a traditional family day when it is optional what each family decides to do.

I hope you do not mind me contacting you in this way. If there is a Head of Language or some other language specialist within your school that you prefer me to communicate with regarding the above possibility I would be more than happy to do so if you could provide me with their contact details.

If the above opportunity is not of interest to your school and you have any contacts for other schools that you feel may be interested in considering an exchange with our Italian school I would be most grateful to receive their contact details.

Many thanks for your kind consideration.

Yours sincerely

Gillian Maggs

I am a teacher of English in a secondary school in Lower Normandy in France.

I am looking for a partnership to develop email/ letter / visio exchanges between pupils aged 12 to 14. I am responsible of 5 classes and 3 levels this year, yet I remain devoted and would be ready to work on a project to give them English penpals. The purpose would be to discover more about the everyday life of a British pupil, to introduce themselves and talk about their life and activities. I would be ready to organize other activities if the teacher-partner wants to implement a specific exchange. They could, in return, help your pupils discover more about the French everyday life of a teenager.

Are you still looking for e-pals ?
I teach in "European Option" at the "French Lycée" in Tamatave - Madagascar.
I know it's not an English-speaking country, but we have a lot to share ! ;-)
I have two groups of 25 students each - students who would be really happy to be in touch with yours. They are 12-14 years old or 14-16.
They are extremely motivated and eager to know more about other countries, life-styles, celebrations, points of view, interests...
They are still learners of course, but are willing to communicate in English by mail, video, skype...
I am convinced we could learn quite a lot through such a partnership, and we could do research and presentations (powerpoint, video, posters...) that we could share. Would you be interested ?
Hope to hear from you,
Emmanuelle.

Hi David,
I read your message and feel interested in exchanging with your students. I have a group of 17 students aged 17 and we're from Guadeloupe. We are even planning for a short trip to Paris and London in October. I would like to know where your school is located in London? I am available for any info.
