not at all i am a huge lover of sharks i actually took college classes on them to learn even more. they are amazing creatures and there is no reason why you should not like them enjoy what you love and don't change who you are for anyone!

Absolutely not! I, too, am a lover for sharks because they are beautiful animals and are commonly misunderstood for monstrous, destructive creatures. It's totally normal to love sharks and be a girl, gender shouldn't have anything to do with liking a certain colour, movie genre, or even animal :P.

They do not have an air bladder so they sink. They have to move so the oxygen in the water goes through their gills so they swim while sleeping.

I dont Know about Sharks but with Dolphins they van shut down half their brain so they are sleeping but still moving, but hey, who knows maybe they dont slepp :)

I think they die if they stop swimming. Scientists do not know how they sleep.

Hey! Moi c'est Clara, et je suis passionnée des requins! Plus tard, voudrais être océanologue, pour pouvoir étudier ces animaux! Dans un documentaire, j'ai vu que si un jour on se faisait attaquer par un requin, il faut lui taper sur le nez ou les branchies, et après le requin s'éloigne! Ah, j'ai aussi un truc! Si un jour (pour je ne sais quelle raison) tu te retrouve en train de nager avec des requin, il ne faut pas avoir peur et nager tranquillement avec lui car pour lui, les gens qui fuient sont des proies, et ceux qui ne fuient pas sont des êtres plus forts que lui!

Moi j'adore les requins! Ce sont mes animaux préférées.
Ce ne sont pas des monstres: ils attaques l'homme par accident en le prenant pour une proie ou autre. Ils sont fascinants. Je comprends que tu adores ce splendide animal. C'est aussi mon animal préféré et plus tard, je veux être vétérinaires spécialisées dans les squales (raies et requins).

Merci pour ces infos ... Moi qui ai la phobie des requins, ca me rassure un peu de savoir qu'il y a des trucs ...
Maintenant, le jour où on se fait attaquer par un requin, le temps de lui taper sur le nez, il nous a mangé!
Un autre truc : le requin est aveugle, il sait qu'on est la juste parce qu'il recoit les ondes quand on bouge, donc si on arrive à rester immobile, il ne nous trouvera pas non plus

I'm going to be a shark biologist when I grow up. They're my favorite animal ever. I really love them. They are really misunderstood. People always wonder who they won't get attacked. easy answer. Don't go into the ocean. Then you have no worry of being attacked. Unless you live near a river near the ocean. Then you could be attacked by the Bull Shark. They can live in fresh or salt water.

I hate sharks!! I have been living in California for 9 months, and trust me, it's difficult to not go onto the ocean when it's really warm!
When I was there, a student from the town next to mine had been killed by a shark!
A lot of people practize surf ... They will never stop because of the sharks!

So wickedly cool to see that you want to be a shark biologist. Is it hard to study that in USA? I've watched some programs about studies in the US to a marine biologists and to me it seems that California it's the center of marine studies, or?

How will you manage to study sharks? I defenitly would love to do it as well, I'm from Sweden and they're not common here in case of the over fishing in the late 70s, it's so sad. In my point of view here in rich Scandinavia, every fisher boat should be a controller so no illegal fishing is suited and let all fishes repare and reparate themselves into a normal scale.

Well, here in australia there are lots of great white sharks. I have learnt that a great white can be really agressive if you provoke it.

je suis tout à fait d'accord avec noémie. le requin est l'animal qu'il faut absolument protéger!!!!!! cette image que beaucoups de personnes donnent de lui est nusible pour le requin mais aussi a des conséquences sur les récifs et le monde sous-marin. pour ceux qui sont interressés je fais partis d'une association sur montpellier qui essaye de les protéger. cette association s'appelle AILERONS.

Salut ! Moi aussi j'adore les requins, je trouve que les gens qui ont en peur ne les connaissent pas assez, ils ont peur d'eux à cause des films comme "Les Dents de la Mer", alors qu'en réalité ils ne nous tuent pas par plaisir (contrairement à nous les humains, soit dit en passant), ils le font parce qu'on est sur leur territoire, ou parce qu'ils nous confondent avec des proies !
Si tu veux en savoir plus, je te conseille d'aller regarder le film "Les Seigneurs de la Mer" =) Excellent documentaire qui explique bien le comportement des requins ^^

Sharks are over 400 million years old. This ancient predators are such good survivors they need little change. Sharks are is a kind of fish known as Chondrichthyes, or cartilaginous fish. That means they do not have bone but cartilage. Cartilage is strong,flexy, and fibrous substance. Much softer than bone. Our ears and nose is made out of cartilage. Their class is known as Elasmodranchii, that includes ray and skates.
Shark are considered the greats preditors of the world. My favorite sharks are the great white, shart fin mako, and thresher shark.
