Omelette japonaise (tamago yaki)

Ello there! I'm Thea, a Senior Girl Scout working on the National Leadership Journey Sow What? and one of the activities is to talk about careers with food with your friends and since I have no friends (hahaha just kidding...not really :) ) I thought I'd discuss this with you people. So...out of all the jobs involving food (farmer, chef, food critic, cookbook author, baker, resturant owner, scientist, nutrtionist, dietican, food photographer, food stylist, butcher, food taste-tester, etc. etc.) which would you most want to do? I think being a cookbook author would be really fun, becuae I like to write and i like to cook ( and I LOVE to eat :) ) or a farmer (becuase I love animals) or maybe even a genticist (because I love doing those little punnett square thingies and it'd be amazing to breed a 500 feet tall apple tree, thus solving world hunger :) What would YOU must like to do? Is there any food-realted job you'd HATE?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Thea

What cookies are your favorite? I don't eat cookies anymore but oatmeal raisin, double chocolate, and gingersnap used to be my favorite cookies. Did you learn to make anything other than cookies recently? I like to make and eat personal veggie pizzas (with brown rice tortillas), chili, salads, smoothies, vanilla shakes, soups, Greek Yogurt and Mango Flavored popsicles, ants on a log (celery, raisins, peanut butter), muesli (oats, nuts, and berries), steak and eggs, oatmeal porridge, deviled eggs, breakfast parfaits (cottage or ricotta cheese or yogurt and fresh fruit), smoked salmon and cream cheese (without the bagel), crudites and yogurt dip, surf and turf, egg and cheese omelette, salt and pepper grilled steaks, lamb chops, and pork chops, grilled or baked herb chicken, bunless lean beef burgers with Parmesan butter, hotdogs on skewers, baked sweet potatoes with cinnamon (not cinnamon sugar) butter, mashed sweet potatoes, grilled pineapple and vegetables, apple slices with peanut butter or cream cheese, bean-kale-chicken stew, waldorf salad, apple-walnut amaranth, whole grain pancakes, whole grain apple popover, pumpkin custard, whole grain cornbread muffins, peanut butter on rice cakes, and Parmesan Brown Rice Pasta with Vegetables. I've researched that in the Sims series of video games, Second Life virtual world, and in the Magic Kingdom at Disney, cookies could be made with eggs as the only ingredient meaning that they would be carb-free, low solid fat, and sugar free. In the real world, cookies are made with wheat flour, leavenings, white starches, refined sweeteners, hydrogenated shortening or margarine, oil blend, water, egg replacer or substitute, gums, and candy and might even have fiber, protein powders, Omega-3's, antioxidants, and/or glorified vitamins and minerals to make them healthier.

Here's a cupcake recipe from the cookbook, How To Be A Domestic Goddess:
Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Icing:
For the cupcakes: *1/2 cup light brown sugar *3/4 cup sunflower or canola oil *2 large eggs *1.5 cups all-purpose or cake flour *3/4 teaspoon baking soda *1 teaspoon cinnamon *Pinch of salt *Zest of 1/2 lemon *Zest of 1/2 orange *2 medium carrots, grated *1/2 cup walnuts, chopped *12-cup muffin pan lined with 12 paper baking cups
For the icing: *1/2 cup cream cheese *1 2/3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted *1-2 teaspoons lime juice *12 walnut halves
Preheat the oven to 400F. Beat the sugar and oil together, then add the eggs one at a time. Add the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and zests, then fold in the grated carrot and walnuts. Spoon the mixture evenly into the muffin cups, and bake for 20 minutes. Cool on a rack while you get on with the icing. Beat the cream cheese in a bowl till smooth and softened somewhat, and then beat in the sifted confectioners' sugar. Squeeze in the lime juice to taste. When the cupcakes are cool, just smear the icing on top. I find using an ordinary blunt knife works well, and I like to see the knife marks in the icing: these aren't meant to be smooth, elegant concoctions. Stick a walnut half in the center of each iced cupcake.

Hi, Renae! I'm Brunnhilde. I have a cupcake recipe for you:
Marble Cupcakes

Ingredients:

1 Box Marble Cake Mix
Eggs, Vegetable Oil, and Water as indicated on box
Cupcake cups
1 spray can Redi-Whip
Chocolate Chips (milk or semi-sweet, to taste)

Directions:

Prepare mix as indicated on box. Line cupcake pan and fill cups with yellow batter. At final step, when adding/blending chocolate batter, also drop a few chocolate chips into each cupcake. Bake per box directions. Cool, and top with Redi-whip swirl and more chocolate chips.

Here's a cookie recipe:
Cake Cookies

Ingredients:
1 cake mix
2 eggs
4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
4 Tbsp. brown sugar
3/4 cup chocolate chips

Blend first four ingredients until well mixed. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto non-stick cookie sheet and bake about 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly browned. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes and enjoy!

I hope this helps ;) make your parents make $$$!

Flora's Famous Zucchini Cake:
For the cake: *12 ounces zucchini (2-3), weighed before grating *2 large eggs *1/2 cup vegetable oil *1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar *1.5 cups self-rising cake flour *1/2 teaspoon baking soda *1/2 teaspoon baking powder *2 8 x 2 inch cake pans, greased and lined with parchment or wax paper
For the filling: *Lime Curd
For the icing: *7 ounces cream cheese *1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted *Juice of 1 lime *2-3 tablespoons chopped pistachio nuts
Preheat the oven to 350F. Wipe the zucchini with a kitchen towel, then grate. When you've grated them, put them in a sieve over the sink to drain. Put the eggs, oil, and sugar in a bowl and beat them until creamy. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and baking powder and continue to beat until well combined. Now stir in the grated zucchini. Pour the mixture into the pans, and bake for 30 minutes until slightly browned and firm to the touch. Leave in their pans on a rack for 5-10 minutes, then turn out and let cool on the rack until your filling and icing are ready. Just buy a good lemon or lime curd and sharpen with some freshly squeezed lime juice. To make the cream cheese icing for the top, beat the cream cheese in a bowl until smooth, add the confectioners' sugar, beating well to combine, and then stir in lime juice to taste. Now get your cakes ready for assembling. Put one cake on the plate and spread with lime curd. Put on the top cake and smear it thickly with the cream cheese icing. If you feel the icings need firming up a little, put the cake in the refrigerator for a while. Just before serving, scatter pistachios on top.

Ciao e buona torta!!!!!

Improve applesauce by stiring in cinnamon and using it to top yogurt, cottage or ricotta cheese, or pork chops. Improve canned soup by garnishing with avocado, an herb, sour cream, and cheese.

I like frozen, store-bought, microwaved donuts or homemade baked donuts but on the family's rooster it says that I can eat only three bites of one on a special occasion and that's it!
