Islam is just a heresy that includes mixed and deformed ideas taken from both Judaizm and Christianity. It's explained by the fact that "Prophet" used to be a trader who communicated with people belonging to those belifs, so he invented a new knowledge that consisted of mixed ideas -:))

Don't you think that we would all be better off WITHOUT religion? Without the phony- boloney belief in God? I think that if everybody didn't hold such an orthodox belief in such a non existent thing, then the world would be happier. Isn't it what most wars are about? Okay, people are allowed to believe what they believe, but is it alright if people are killed because of it? Love to hear your comments, atheist or religious. Zoe .

Scientist say what they think about how we got here, but have you noticed there's a big 2 billion year gap between the planets creation and organisms appearring on the planets surface? Well in Christianity there's no gap. Every nation in the world was built on religeon, in fact, people moved to the Thirteen Colonies solely for that porpous.

I don't agree your point of view.
I think that if religion didn't exist, people would try to find other "problems" to fight about.
People are the real problem, because people think only of their own business..the most important thing for people is money,so if there wasn't religion, people would think of business,of petrol,of power...Even they would fight because of differences of cultures.
I think that people should have more faith in God because God and religion are the best ways to reach the peace.

I do not really think the world would be a better place without religion; while there are still fights about it, there are many other things people fight about and I do not think the world being rid of religion would make things better. Besides, while I am an atheist myself, I do understand that some people also find comfort in their religion. They get to join up with something, they get to feel safe- in a world where comfort can be so hard to find, why wish to take any away?

War uses religion as an excuse... If there were no religion, war would exist... So that's not the problem...
Just look from a different point of view:
Why do we NEED religion? Not to be scared of death, to hope someone cares about us, to pray for somethig and hoping a God will listen...
Even if there's no proof of a God's existence, even if the existence of different Gods at the same moment and different kinds of lives after death is impossible... someone really needs to believe in one... to think we're not alone...
So who cares if it isn't true? Tell a person that he or she is alive fo no reaons, that will die and never be concious again... he or she will be upset... Religion's here to make us happy and to make us sure that in the end there will be a reward...

If there was no religion in the world, people would find other things to fight over. To list a few possibilities:
-Territory
-Cultural Differences (many groups hate each other, yet they share religion, oftentimes this is a nationalistic sentiment)
-Fuel/Petroleum
-Food/Water Supplies (Perhaps water supplies will be a bigger issue in the future)
-Power
In a nutshell, religion is just one of the many things people fight over.

So there are no excuses, okay, there is no way to wriggle out of this one. Without belief there is no way to create friction or cause arguments. But not only this, it's just obvious, god doesn't exist. No more theories, no more conversions, and no more prayers=no more wars, no more arguments, and no more dellusionists.

The existence of God is obvious and it's very important, necessary for every human to respect Him and to follow His ways, to be religious.
Read John Paul's biography, remember his actions, he's one of the examples of how to believe + how to respect God.

10450 -
modifier supprimer 10468 - Réponse de scholar (us) - 2009-06-15

To David, this of course implies that the person thinking about it believes that there is such a thing as a sin and that the same things are considered sins as you believe.

For Sophie, I guess it is a person's own unique situation that determines what they believe, and this choice should be theirs and they should be required to live and die with the choice they have made. This is the practical answer.

A more philosophical answer and something that I personally believe is that everyone believes in something that is essentially a God. In my opinion this is what makes me believe that it (He, etc) exists. You may be skeptical, but I will try to explain.

Many scientists say they are atheists and that religion exists only to scare the ignorant into submission. However it is the same person that has complete faith that the entire universe is perfectly ordered and they spend their entire life trying to understand this order (note that this is essentially what a monk does within religious realms). This may not be a true religion, but it is a faith in something larger than oneself.

This is only one example, but I think it illustrates my point well.

I will leave you with a couple more quotes...I hope you enjoy.

"For the belief in a single truth is the root cause for all evil in the world."
- Max Born
"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forego their use."
- Galileo Galilei
"Let no one enter here who does not have faith."
- Inscription over the door on Max Planck's Laboratory

Religion provides you with a community and with guidelines to live by and with hope. Basically religion provides comfort and a place to belong. Humans like to belong to groups. This is kind of an anthropological answer, so it might not be what you were looking for.

"I came to the conclusion long ago … that all religions were true and also that all had some error in them, and whilst I hold by my own, I should hold others as dear as Hinduism. So we can only pray, if we are Hindus, not that a Christian should become a Hindu … But our innermost prayer should be a Hindu should be a better Hindu, a Muslim a better Muslim, a Christian a better Christian." (Young India: January 19, 1928)

“God has no religion” Mahatma Gandhi quotes

Both of these quotes teach that God exists but that all religions that seek to know truth and promotes good morals are equally valid. It is the faith and belief that makes it worth it, not the particular religion. Hope someone enjoys the Gandhi quotes!

I agree with your idea. I believe that is probably the most fundamental basis of all of the religions and philosophies of the world throughout all of history. Perhaps if you expand your first question, it too becomes more difficult to answer. Yes your parents conceived you, but where does life actually arise? I find your last question interesting also. Does anything happen after death? Does the soul (if there is such a thing) live on? Do we simply cease to exist and our bodies rot? Are we reborn in a new form? I do not think there is any way to know for sure, but it is definitely something to wonder about. One thing I do know is that I believe it is important to do something and be loved by someone enough that when your body dies, your memory lives on. For if we are remembered, we cannot truly be said to be dead.

Please respond with your thoughts!

Okay, so a lot of people say that the world should strive toward understanding and peace. I agree that this is a good goal. However I would like to bring up this bit to talk about. Many people believe that through getting to know those in other regions and cultures we would be able to come to agreements and begin to live side by side peacefully. I wander, however, if this level of globalization and exchange would not eventually lead to us developing a new world culture that takes over all of the previous cultures. I do not disagree that peace is a good goal, I merely wonder if we are beginning to overlook the beauty of cultural diversity. I hope we can find middle ground whereby we preserve unique cultures and peace. I think the world would be awfully boring if we all liked the same food, music, style, etc. I know that I may be taking this farther than most would, but if we can think of world peace, then perhaps world culture is not much further of a stretch (or perhaps it would precede peace).
I would like to hear what everyone else thinks about preserving the wonderful, unique cultures of the world.

i absulutly agree with you about how the diversety of cultures in the world is the one that makes it unique , but if the cost to have peace finnaly in the world would be abanding these culturs i find it a very reachbal price , i'm sure that when you'll remeber the 50 millions who died in the ww2 you'll finnaly get to the conclusion that such a price didn't make humans think seriusly for peace and the proov was the first day after the the war in the 8/5/1945 , when the frensh authority killed 45.000 algerians who celebrated the end of the war by caring national algerians flags and the truth is also liying today in iraq and africa .
you see ,i find creating one culture in the world as the ultimate sollution to end racism and to finnaly get peace to this war-loving world ...

Hi Rumia !

I really liked the fact that you learned about islam, instead of believing in the prejudices. If everyone learn about islam, they will find out that it is strictly against the terrorism, and against the suicide.
If you understand the coran very well, you'll see that it contains many miracles, some thinks that could not be dicovered in a very remote time. There are even some truths which have just been discovered.
Terorrists are psychos. Not muslims, not belonging to any special race or religion.

I encourage you to learn more about islam, I think It's really a perfect religion, It is just impressive that the Koran mentioned everything , social life, judgments, even the inheritance..

More than that, Islam doesn't deny the existence of other religions, but says that it has been modified by people. Coran and "ahHadith" say we should treat the followers of other religions very well.
The Coran says that the one who killed one person, will be judged as if he killed all the people of the world. It's really necessary to know those things, and not believe in everything we hear, cause every one has a brain, and should use it !
Talk to you later :D
