Chihuahuas

Welcome To An Entire Site Devoted to the Best Dogs Ever, Chihuahuas

General Information:

Chihuahuas are one of the best dogs to get if you are looking for a loving companion. They are easy to carry and come in a variety of sizes, colors and coats. Chihuahuas make a keen watch dog and don't require much exercise. Chihuahuas range in height from 6-9 inches and in weight from 2-6 pounds. There life expectancy is about 15 years! Chihuahuas need to be socialized as a puppy so that they will get along with other people, especially children and other dogs. It is very important to take them with you a lot of the time and get them used to all different situations. This will help them from becoming shy, scared or aggressive. Chihuahuas are good for people who live in apartments because they do not need a lot of exercise, however, taking them on walks will keep them fit and healthy. They love warm weather and the sun. They tend to shiver in the cold so a sweater might help keep them warm. Short haired Chihuahuas need to be brushed only on occasion. Long- Haired Chihuahuas need to be brushed everyday. Giving them baths about once a month will due for both breeds. Make sure to keep their nails cut regularly to keep them happy and you as well. Chihuahuas are good for people with allergies and they shed most during seasonal change, otherwise they are average shedders! Chihuahuas are small but intelligent animals. They will respond well to positive reinforcement and enjoy being loved. They may be difficult to train sometimes but it can be done! Chihuahuas are very protective of their owners and will follow them everywhere in uncomfortable situations and when strangers are in the room. They become very attached and can get jealous very easily. They love to lick faces and snuggle. They are a good lap dog and will enjoy sleeping with you under the covers at your feet. Chihuahuas are a great dog to have if you are looking for a loving companion for a long time!
Chihuahuas

Chihuahuas, tiny, intelligent, curious, alert, saucy, appealing, and very lovable are just a few words to describe this joyful little toy breed. The American Kennel club registered the breed in 1904, but the first documented Chihuahua was in the late nineteenth century. Named for Chihuahua, Mexico, Chihuahuas are descendants of the Techichi popular with the Mayans in the Toltec period around the seventh century. They were known all around the southern United States and Mexico. The were used in religious sacrifices and worshiped by ancient Mayans and Aztecs.
Chihuahuas live long lives, usually of 16 years or more. Whether they have short hair or long silky coats of black, white, tan, brown, or a mixture, every Chihuahua has large ears, an adorable round head, and the biggest baby eyes you will ever see. They are a very protective yet energetic breed, and if you have little time to play or pay attention to them, then I would suggest a different breed. Because of their size, they are ideal for small houses or apartments.
Remember that Chihuahuas are like babies or kids - if they aren't treated gently, they will snap. I would recommend getting one when you’re old enough to understand how to be gentle and play and care for them properly. I got mine for Christmas when I was eight and she was the best gift I ever received. I love her so much, she is my best friend. I am an only child and Minni and I are like sisters. She thinks she is human. Chihuahuas have very different personalities not really depending on their gender, but they are all unique just like people. You should really choose one that fits your personality and life-style. Some Chi's are friendlier and more tolerant if they are in a home with other Chihuahuas.
They are very curious and tenacious. They are not intimidated by larger animals. So unless you know the larger animal to be gentle, be very cautious. Sometimes big dogs think Chi's are little play toys and don't realize that they are hurting them when they play.
Listen to your vet, follow their nutritional guidelines and keep up on their shots. You don’t want a sick pup! Chihuahuas shouldn't exceed six pounds. Although I think Chihuahuas are the best breed and I love mine deeply, every pet is a champion in her owner’s eyes. I hope you find the perfect companion. Remember to check the local shelter, those pets are in need of loving homes too. Also, please spay or neuter your family pet!
