créée par Dave et Max Fleisher, Betty boop à commencé sa carrière le 9 aout 1930et l'achévera en 1939.
Après que le code moral du bureau Hays damande aux frères Fleisher de revoir l'image de Betty boop qu'il juge trop sexy, les deux frères se voient obligés de donner un aspect plus sobre à BB.
Ce qui va venir entacher son image, en esset l'image de cette dernière est glamour et trés fémininen apparître complètement sage sera fatal pour sa carrière.


Betty boop apparaît d'abord sous les traits d'une chienne aux longues oreilles et à la truffe noire. C'est la petite amie du chien Bimbo. Puis en 1931, sous la forme d'une jeune fille aux longues jambes dont ont a pris pour modèle Mae West.
Souvent habillée en décoltée et en jupe courte soulevé par le vent.
Ou encore en robe bustier laissant voir une jarretière pourvu d'un coeur


Mae Quetel a prêté sa voix à betty boop à partir de 1931.
Mae à également prêté sa voix à Olive la compagne de Ppopeye.
BB a été dessiné par Grim Natwick


Betty boop est issue d'une famille modeste d'immigrés.
elle endosse plusieurs métiers: infirmière, institutrice, dompteur de lions, fumambule, vendeuse de cacahouète, chanteuse de cabaret........
