December 24 (Chinese traditional calender) we are supposed to do clean the house on this day. But really, my family don't like cleaning... Especially me. I am too lazy to clean stuffs...Another reason was that we didn't really have a good kitchen. So it was unable to keep it clean. Dirt kept falling off from the roof. We didn't have a range hood. So the wall became almost black after years. The ground wasn't very even. It was a hard time, with a few happy moments that carved in my memory.
December 25 (Chinese traditional calender) The day of tofu! Make it, or buy it.
Dec 26 Prepare meat for the spring festival
Dec 27 A bad day for the hens and cocks...
Dec 28 Time to make Chinese style steamed bread! |
| Dec 29 Time to worship the ancestors and passed away family members. After thousands of years in history, many Chinese have kept the tradition of worshiping our ancestors. It's believed to be related to primitive religion.
Dec 30 The New Year Eve! Dumplings feast. We eat dumplings at the eve of New Year for dinner. Then we eat dumplings again next morning, as the breakfast for the New Year's Day. But, many people stay up till midnight on the Spring Festival eve. So, if we get up too late for breakfast, then dumplings will be lunch. Haha.
Jan 1 The New Year day! We go out in the morning, say "Happy Spring Festival" to neighbors, friends. I find it quite awkward though. Maybe I'm really a social awkward person. Or I just don't find the purpose of it. I mean, come on. There are better things to say than this, lol.
Jan 2 Time to visit our relative families. Don't forget to bring gifts to them!
