these days in korea there is a huge disaster going known as the HALLOWEEN STAMPEDE, it's a very big tragedy in South korea. 150 people was killed and two americans. mostly people around 20s have been killed due to the crush. today korea is paying gratitude to the people who has lost their lives :(
I too pay gratitude to the young people who has lost their lives.

South Korea cancels festivals, concerts, gatherings, sales in wake of deadly Halloween crush

South Korea ferry disaster
* The Sewol sank off Jindo island on 16 April 2014, killing 304 people, almost all of them children.
* The bodies of nine people were never found. Relatives have campaigned hard for them to be recovered.
* The ship was raised last week after almost three years on the sea floor and put onto a platform to be towed to port.
* The captain of sewol ferry ship was sentence to dealth by the South Korean Court. |

SHIN SAIMDANG .
* Shin Saimdang was a Korean artist, writer, calligraphist, and poet, who lived during the Joseon period. She was born in Gangneung, Gangwon Province. Her birth home, Ojukheon, which is also her maternal family's home, is well-preserved to this day. She was the mother of the Korean Confucian scholar Yi I. Often held up as a model of Confucian ideals, her respectful nickname was Eojin Eomeoni -어진 어머니; "Wise Mother". Her real name was Shin In-seon . Her pen names were Saim, Saimdang, Inimdang, and Imsajae. She was a contemporary of the poet Heo Nansseolheon, and the two women were considered rivals.
*Shin Saimdang was born and raised in Gangneung at the home of her maternal grandparents. Her father, Shin Myeong-hwa (신명화, 申命和), from the Pyeongsan Shin clan, was a government official and a friend of the scholar Jo Gwang-jo, but he was not politically active. Her mother was Lady Yi of the Yongin Yi clan, the daughter of Yi Saon 이사온, 李思溫. Saimdang was the second of five daughters .
*Shin Myeong-hwa chose Commander Yi Won-su 李元秀 to become Saimdang's husband. Many people felt that this showed poor judgement, because although Yi Won-su's ancestors included Yeonguijeong (Chief State Councillor) and Jwauijeong (Left State Councillor), the family was poor. At that time, Yi Won-su was also unemployed, and his father had died. However, Shin Myeong-hwa prioritised marrying Saimdang to a man who would allow her to continue with her artwork, and Won-su had no objections to this.
*The couple had eight children: five boys and three girls. At the age of 33, she went back to Gangneung to give birth to her third son, Yi I.
*she was a good wife to her husband but saimdang did not listen to her husband Yi Won-su easily. Promising 10 years of separation for his study, she sent her husband to a good mountain. When he came back yearning for his wife, she reprimanded him, threatening to cut off her hair if he didn't study hard. In spite of her efforts, Yi Won-su quit studying after 3 years.
*Conflict with her husband - She noticed that her husband, Yi Won-su, loved a kisaeng named Kwon. When Yi Won-su began living with Kwon, Saimdang strongly disapproved of it and the couple's relationship cooled. Shin Saimdang, who foresaw her death, asked her husband not to marry another woman after she died.
*Kwon was considered to be a rash girl who acted unpredictably, the opposite of Shin Saimdang, and it was also said that she was the same age as her eldest son, Yi Seon. When Shin Saimdang discovered the presence of Kwon, she once again asked her husband not to invite Kwon to their home.
*Death -Yi I loved his mother dearly, so when Shin Saimdang got sick, he went to the shrine where his maternal grandfather's spirit tablet was kept, and prayed for his mother for one hour every day. The family members who were searching for the missing Yi I were moved when they found the young child sincerely praying in hopes of his mother recovering. Despite his efforts, her illness got worse. Shin Saimdang died suddenly after moving to the Pyongan region,[2] on May 17, 1551, at the age of 46. As a result of her death, her son Yi I wandered about with questions about the cause of life and death.
After her dealth his husband did not marry that woman but broke a promise, by bringing her to live with him and his children. unlike Shin saimdang Kwon like to drink so the childeren suffered alot because of her. Yi I ran away from home due to thr drinking of Kwon .

The korean drama known as the Saimdang:Memoir of colors-Actress Lee Young ae and Actor Song Seung-heon are played as the man roles in the drama which is mostly based on shin saimdang's life half of the drama is fictional but the other half is her true life back on the days of Josen period , I would like for my visitors to check out this korean drama - SAIMDANG:MEMOIR OF COLORS .

Great Korean Dishes
1.Kimchi-This signature Korean dish has been around for more than 2,000 years, dating back to the Shilla Dynasty. Kimchi consists of Korean cabbage, radish, pumpkin, onion, ginger, and scallion with chili powder, crushed garlic and salted seafood, which is then left to ferment.
2.Jajangmyeon- A Korean-Chinese fusion dish, jajangmyeon uses thick handmade wheat noodles topped with raw cucumber slices and a mixture of salty black soybean paste, diced pork and vegetables.
3.Ginseng chicken soup-Locals believe that the body’s energy must be replenished during summer, so it is a common practice for them to consume a piping hot bowl of samgyetang (chicken ginseng soup) between the months of June and early September.
This nourishing soup consists of a small spring chicken stuffed with chestnuts, garlic, dried jujubes, ginseng, glutinous rice, and gingko nuts. The ingredients are then slow-cooked until the meat is very tender and the thick broth permeates a slightly bitter yet fragrant taste.
4.Red rice cakes - Tteokbokki is a traditional Korean street food that’s made with thick slices of garaetteok (boiled rice cake), fish cake, onions, diced garlic, salt, sugar and assorted vegetables that are stir-fried in sweet red chili sauce. Distinguished by its bright red-orange ensemble, this popular snack is usually sold at street vendors and independent snack bars. |
