Cool Stuff

Hi!!! I'm awesome and this is a page about a ton of cool articles that I have written. I like to dance, and I go to practice three days a week. I have point ballet shoes, which are really hard to use. I also like to play soccer, but I am not on a team this year because I'm to busy. I started Middle school this year, and so far I really like it. All my teachers are very nice, and I really like their classes. I like being able to have a locker, and I like switching classes. I am really having fun this year!

Some things that I might want to write about as a journalist for the school are results for sports games, performances or plays for school clubs, assemblies at school, fundrisers, and interviews with thoughts about the new school year for students, teachers, and parents. If I wanted to write about something non-school related, or happening at other schools, I might want to write about things such as the presidential election or diseases that are affecting many people or students.
If I were to write about any of these subjects in an article, I would be sure to find out as many details as I could about it. I would have to get interviews and photos to go along with my article as well. If I were to write about the results of a sports game, I would want to got to the game before I wrote about it, to know what happened, I would want to interview the coach, a player, or someone helping out the team, and I would need to take pictures. Another example would be if I were doing an article about the presidential election, I could interview students about what they thought about having to be eighteen or older to vte, and I could interview adults who can vote about if they thought the voting age is fair.

One of ny pet peeves is when the sprinklers come on as I am walking down to the bus stop. On one sunny day of the fifth grade this happened to me. I tried desperately to avoid them, but found it completely impossible. So instead, I attempted to run straight through without getting very wet. As I ran, I thought I wouldnt get wet, but then, without knowing, I stepped in a puddle, slipped, and fell right onto my back! When I got on the bus, I was soaking wet, but luckily, I had dried by the time I made it to school.

Garbage

Did you know that 25% of americans have to pay to throw away their garbage? I think it is very unfair. Most people have more garbage than can fit in their garbage can, so they have to pay for it. I think you should be able to throw away as much garbage as you need to, but you have to be able to keep the amount of garbage as low as you can. If it gets to high, only then should you have to pay.

Favorite Memory

One of my favorite memories was when my mom put together a huge family reunion for her side of my family. There were probably at least forty people there, and we were having a lot of fun. In our front yard, we had potato sack races, the kids against each other, the moms against each other, and the dads against each other. The dads came last, after the moms.vThis is the race that stood out in my memory the most.
The four men competing in this race were my dad, my uncle Marc, my uncle Billy, and my uncle Jeff. Each had their own way of trying to win. When my mom finally blew the whistle to start, the first thing everyone saw was Uncle Marc pushing my Uncle Billy until he fell so he wouldn't win. This went on the whole race with my dad, Uncle Marc, and Uncle Billy pushing each other down. Uncle Jeff was just going at his own pace.
When the race was coming to an end, the pushing got worse until someone finally won. It was Uncle Jeff. My dad and my other two uncles had all raced in to push each other at the exact same moment and they all fell at the same time Uncle Jeff crossed the finish line. Everyone cheered as the other three got up. Well, I guess slow and steady does win the race.

Tradition

A tradition that my family started two years ago with my neighbors was to make a Halloween walk of doom every year in mine or one of my neighbors backyards. Last year we did it in my dad's friend's yard across the street. I helped set it up, and we made a scary shack that you had to walk through, we set up strobe lights, and we set up fog machines that you had to walk through in the forest. The really creepy part was all my neighbors and my dad dressing up. My dad's friend was dressed in a hockey mask with a chainsaw and popped out of the woods with it turned on. The walk was really creepy, and I'm glad everyone enjoyed it!

Abduction

This is Awesome reporting live from the 9700 block of Kennoway court in Bristow, Virginia, at the scene where a six year old girl was almost abducted on Tuesday morning. The mother of this little girl was checking her mail when this happpened, leaving her daughter in the car. The attacker came into the car to get the girl, but when the girl started to scream, the mother ran back to the car to watch the attacker leave empty handed, even with the mother's purse right next to her daughter. Police think the attacker might have been looking for money to buy drugs. Neighbors say they have seen the man who matches the police description walking around the area. This has been Jessica Shalvey, signing off from Bristow, Virginia.

Soldiers

The soldiers who fight for our country are very important because they are protecting America and all the people in it. These soldiers fight for what they believe in, and they risk their lives to accomplish just that. Veterans leave their families and their previous lives to go to war, and everyone should appreciate them for doing so. These soldiers barely sleep, dont get enough to eat, and are without homes so we can be safe. Everyone should give thanks to the United States troops.

Halloween Memory

One of my favorite Halloween memories was when my friend's older brother scared everyone who walked onto his porch. He hid in the bushes, and whenever someone came to trick-or-treat,he would pop out, screaming. He was wearing a mask and came out with a huge saw. Everyone screamed as loud as they could. It was so much fun to watch and be scared yourself!
