Combined with his simultaneous appearances on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and NCIS, Efron placed as high as #4 on the IMDBPro's STARMeter for the week of January 29, 2006. Efron's singing talents were disputed when it was revealed that Andrew Seeley's voice was blended with Efron's voice on the soundtrack of High School Musical. In August 2006, Efron won a Teen Choice Award in the Breakout Star and the TV - Choice Chemistry categories, shared with Hudgens. The film's cast, along with Efron, toured Sydney, Australia, London, England, and other locations to promote the film, although Efron did not participate in the High School Musical Concert that toured the U.S. and Canada throughout fall and winter 2006.

"Breaking Free", at the time, made the fastest climb in the history of the Billboard charts, from #86 to #4 between the two weeks; the record has since been beaten by Eminem and Akon's "Smack That". Efron also appeared in the 2006 Disney Channel Games as captain of the Red Team.

In June of 2006, Efron was cast as Link Larkin in a film version of Hairspray, also starring Amanda Bynes, Queen Latifah and John Travolta and scheduled for release on July 20, 2007. Efron performed all of his own vocals in the role, which was filmed in Toronto, Ontario from September 5 to December 2, 2006. Efron cut and dyed his hair dark brown and gained about 15 lbs. for the role.

Efron's next films include the made-for-television High School Musical 2, scheduled to begin filming in March 2007 for an August 2007 air date. Efron has also been cast in an untitled high school-set comedy produced by Adam Shankman and based on a pitch by Jason Filardi.

The members of NLT aren't pretending to be anything they're not. They love pop music, have been born and bred on pop music, and have manicured their pop music to a brilliant, effervescent sheen on their self-titled debut, Not Like Them.

The group point to The Underdogs' drum and keyboard-driven production approach to "That Girl" as a prime example of their divergent pop influences and sound, and cite their co-writing with Timbaland on "He Said, She Said (Time to Let Go)” as a highlight of the recording process. But integral to it all was the first producer they worked with: Troy "Treezah" Johnson ("Go," "Rose," "Move"). "That was the best way for us to start. We had a lot of input, and we learned a lot about how our sound would be built. The songs we did with Troy were the foundation for everything," says Kevin.

V, JJ, Kevin and Travis feel confident that Not Like Them is a reflection of not only where they've come from, but where they're heading. Says JJ, "Making this record was an incredible experience, and all the talented people we worked with were nothing short of amazing. These are our first songs as a group, and we are so excited to share them with everyone."

Make no mistake, that excitement is sure to be rivaled by that of their fans, who recognize the alluring vocal tapestry of NLT as just the beginning.

He attended Millfield School in Street, Somerset for a year, but subsequently left after excessive bullying.[citation needed]

In 2005, Alex Pettyfer, after ending his modelling career,[1] made his professional acting debut in the British television production of Tom Brown's Schooldays, playing the lead character, Tom Brown; he received positive reviews for the role.[3] In June 2005, he was cast in his most prominent role so far, that of teenage MI6 spy Alex Rider in the film Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker, based on the novel by Anthony Horowitz. He was one of 500 who auditioned for the role.[2] Pettyfer chose to appear in the film over a role in the upcoming film Eragon, noting that he preferred Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker because it would be filmed in Britain in the Isle of Man while Eragon would film in the Czech Republic, and Pettyfer is afraid of flying.[1] Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker was released on July 21, 2006 in the United Kingdom, on October 6, 2006 in the United States and on September 21, 2006 in Australia.

One review of Pettyfer's performance described him as playing the role with an "earnest intensity", although another noted that he "isn't quite at ease as an actor".[5] Media reports have specified that the film is expected to make Pettyfer a "teen idol".[3] Pettyfer will not reprise the role in the next Alex Rider film because he is already too old for the role.
