My Blog On The Book 'Flush'

In the first chapter of "Flush", I learn that it is Father's Day. Strangely, I started reading this book on Father's Day! Noah is the main character and his dad is in jail for breaking the law. My dad works in law enforcement and I would never imagine him in jail. In the story, Noah understands why his dad did what he did but doesn't approve of it. I feel grateful to have a dad like mine that follows the law and does not break it.
In Chapter 2 Noah goes to Lice Peeking's trailer. He tries to get some answers from him but doesn't get many. It also seems that Lice Peeking is not related to my family at all because he is a drug addict and smokes.
This book is very interesting to me and is probably is for a lot of people. It is a book that you never want to put down. There is a conflict in the book that draws together three different characters. They all have different opinions about the conflict. This book is amazing and is a book I would read over and over and over again.
Noah goes to visit his dad in jail because his dad sunk a boat. The boat that he sunk was dumping waste into the basin. Noah wants to defend his dad and prove that his dad did something good for the environment. This must be very hard for him to be in this situation. Noah understands why his dad did what he did but doesn't think he made the right choice. His dad chooses Noah to be interviewed by the newspaper guy. Noah was picked because his mom and sister wouldn't do it. I feel that Noah's dad is wrong for putting Noah in this situation.
Noah's dad escaped from jail! He is going to get in trouble. The guards left the jail cell unlocked so he ran out the back door. That was dumb. He came home and talked to Noah and Abbey. He was going to talk to Noah's mom in the morning. It turns out that he didn't need to break out because he was going to be released the next day. He keeps making stupid decisions that are going to get him into more trouble. The guards brought his stuff over to his house. Noah's dad was put on house arrest so he had to wear an ankle bracelet. I think he should've gotten into more trouble. He was lucky.
After Noah's dad got back from jail, Abbey sneaked out the house with a video camera. She didn't tell anyone, not even her brother! That's not smart. Noah's mom, dad, and he went searching for her. The first place they looked was at the Coral Queen. That was a good place to look. They didn't find her though.

Then when they were driving, they saw Abbey walking home. Wow! When they got home, Abbey showed them the video she made. It was pretty bad quality because she used an old camera. Abbey thought it was pretty good. I think that Abbey should've gone with her brother because they could've worked together to find the evidence. At least she tried to help her father.
In the story the beach closes because of waste being dumped into the basin. This is so wrong. If someone did that to my beach I would be so mad and upset.

Dusty, why don't you think about the fish, wildlife and coral that you are destroying? Is making all that money worth destroying the beach?

I always go fishing and swimming at the beach. The beach is a place where I go with my family. It is something we all should and must take care of together.

I am so angry at Dusty. I now understand Noah's dad anger.
Dusty is a smart and a very wicked man. Dusty has a man that works for the coast guard on his side! The man owes Dusty a lot of money from gambling debt. Stop gambling man! Instead of paying Dusty, the coast guard lets Dusty dump waste into the basin. Why would you do that? This is bribery and is against the law. Every time Dusty is going to have an inspection, the man warns Dusty a day before. When that happens, Dusty stops dumping into the basin. That is so evil!
Noah, Abbey, and Shelly had a plan. They would put food coloring in the toilets and flush. When Dusty would dump the waste, the color would show and lead back the "Coral Queen". Noah got caught in the bathroom because some lady had to go. So he jumped off the boat and Abbey would pick him up and leave. When Noah and Abbey were in the boat, Luno, a person who works for Dusty, came out and pointed a gun at them! Then a stranger came out and started beating up Luno. Abbey and Noah got stranded and their dad and the stranger came to rescue them. Turns out the stranger was their Grandpa Bobby.
In the end everything works out ok. Their plan worked. The dye leads the coastguard to the "Coral Queen". Dusty was fined ten grand for the dumping. Noah's dad got one grand for helping turn Dusty in. Then all of a sudden Dusty boat caught on fire! Jasper Jr. accidently set the boat on fire. So that happened and then the Underwood family went on the skiff and went fishing and say the green flash and everyone lived happily ever after.
