≠Unforgettable Korea Soccer Story≠

The 2002 Korea-Japan World cup is one of the most memorable events for Koreans. It was dream, hope and passion to all Koreans. During the 2002 World cup, the Korean peninsula was totally covered by red wave which is the representative color of Korean team. Koreans were so excited once they made to semi final, because they never won a game at world cup before. It was a glorious work that Koreans never done before, so some people call it a miracle. Now that 2006 World Cup in Germany is just in the corner, Koreans desire the miracle to come true once again. The miracle will be never achieved without a great amount of effort. Therefore, we have to look for the reasons behind the Korean team`s success in 2002.

1)Team Korea finishes unbeaten in Beijing

BEIJING -- In what was to be the last Olympic appearance for baseball, Korea and Cuba put on a show for the ages Saturday night, turning the final game into a classic pitchers duel. At the end of a dramatic nine innings of play, Korea came out on top, securing its first gold medal, 3-2.
Korea sent Hyunjin Ryu to the hill Saturday night, and Cuba countered with Norberto Gonzalez. The start was Ryu＊s second of the tournament, his first, a gem against Canada on Aug. 15. The Korean lefty went nine shutout innings in that outing, allowing only five hits and striking out six.

5) Team gold medal was Korea𠏋 second medal, having taken home a bronze from the 2000 Sydney Games. The silver was Cuba𠏋 second such medal ?also in Sydney ?to go along with its three gold medals from Barcelona, Atlanta and Athens in 1992, 1996 and 2004 respectively.

2) Korea wasted no time getting on the board, quickly jumping ahead 2-0 courtesy of a Seungyuop Lee two-run blast to left, scoring Yongkyu Lee. The homerun was S. Lee＊s first of the tournament.

Cuba came right back in the bottom of the inning, scoring one run on a Michel Enriquez solo shot.

The 2-1 score after one stood for the next five innings, with the only significant threat coming from Korea in the top of the sixth. With two men on and two away, Daeho Lee lined a ball to center that was snared by a diving Giorbis Duvergel.

Korea followed through on its threats in the seventh inning, however, when, with two men on, Yongkyu Lee lined a ball to right that landed just fair and in front of the wall. The hit scored Jinman Park and put Y. Lee on second and Jongwook Lee on third. The hit chased Cuban pitcher Pedro Lazo, who never found his stride in relief of Gonzalez. Luis Rodriguez came on for Lazo and retired Hyunsoo Kim on a shallow fly to center.

6) Ryu (2-0) got the win as he went eighth and one-third innings, allowing two runs on five hits and seven strikeouts. Norberto Gonzalez (0-1) suffered the loss for Cuba as he allowed two runs on two hits in five and two-thirds innings of work. Chong was credited with the save (2).

3) Alexei Bell answered Korea in the bottom of the inning, blasting a solo shot to left center. The homerun was Bell＊s second as he added to his torrid tournament-leading .500 average.

4) Neither team scored in the eighth but Cuba threatened in the ninth inning as Korea was unable to provide an insurance run in the top of the inning. Hector Olivera led off with a single to left field and Frederich Cepeda was put on base via walk with one out and the ever dangerous Alexei Bell at the plate. Bell took a walk that loaded the bases and forced Team Korea to finally go to their bullpen.

Calling in Taehwon Chong to relieve Ryu, Chong forced Yuliesky Gourriel into a 6-4-3 double play as Korea won their first gold medal in Olympic Baseball History.

Angel of figure skating Kim Yeona

I'm going to introduce about Yeona Kim. She was born in 1990 september 5 in Kyeong Gi Do Kunpo and she's going to Suri High School. When she was not well known her mother cared about her really hard, and she was a talented girl but she practiced really hard. Her rival is Asada Mao (Japanese) and Yeona has ability to show her expression (spin, step, and acts)... I think her ability of showing expression made her top of the world. People call her a nymph of figure. I hope Yeona makes our country proud.
